We%26#39;re thinking of moving to Charleston. Based on the research we have done and the content we have seen on this site, we are looking at Summerville and Mt Pleasant. How do these areas compare with respect to housing, community, schools, and traffic??
We would like a walking town with shops, restaurants, parks, etc.
Thanks in advance - all of your comments have been helpful so far.
Moving to Charleston
Bottomline you really can%26#39;t go wrong with either one. They%26#39;re both nice communities, both have good schools and both have their share of traffic problems. Mt. Pleasant is more congested, there are also more tourists in this area which compounds their traffic situation. Basically it comes down to what kind of home you are looking for and how much you want to spend, because housing in Mt. Pleasant is about 25% higher than in Summerville.
Summerville is more small town atmosphere with a quaint downtown with shops and restaurants. Mt. Pleasant is more developed with many shops and restaurants, but Summerville is growing in these areas as well. Future planned development in Dorchester County (Summerville) is making this area one of the fastest growing in the tri-area.
