Bike Week?

My husband and I are planning a vacation to north myrtle beach May 21-26. We are probably going to stay at the Avista Resort. Is this during Bike Week and if so, will it be crowded in North Myrtle as well? Thank you.

Bike Week?

I understand Black Bike Week is May 24-29 and brings 350,000 people which spill from the original Atlantic Beach to Myrtle, North Myrtle, etc. Here%26#39;s their site and history...it%26#39;s been building over 20 www.rollingbluethunder.com

A friend actually told me about it and she says some people think it%26#39;s too crowded that weekend and don%26#39;t go to their condos...and other people like the lively times. I%26#39;ve never been during that time.

I%26#39;ll keep an eye out here to see what others - locals and visitors alike - have experienced about this weekend. [Like a lot of things, it may be that some don%26#39;t like it....and some didn%26#39;t even know anything else was going on and had a glorious quiet time:) ]

Bike Week?

Atlantic Beach Bike Fest is, like Explorer3 said, over Memorial Day Weekend.

Most of the activities take place in Atlantic Beach (which is a small community between N Myrtle Beach and Myrtle Beach). There are also some events at the convention center in MB. Of course with that many more people in the area, traffic is going to be quite a bit heavier (and we do have a change in some traffic patterns in the area). It may not be as crowded in NMB as say Atantic Beach or MB, most bikers like to cruise the Blvd in MB, but it can be a bit hectic getting from point A to point B.

I usually will walk to Kirk%26#39;s on 61st Ave N and Kings Hwy, grab me a ice cream and watch all the activity. It can be alot of fun!

:)

Do not want to detour you from coming to MB but if you are not coming for the bike rally you may want to rethink your dates. I%26#39;ll give you an example of my personal experience...2 years ago I left to go to a fast food restaurant while on my lunch break from work. Well the trip that usually takes me 7 minutes took me 6 1/2 hours from the time I left work until the time I got back! I sat in bumper to bumper traffic that was at a standstill for most of the time!

Needless to say I nor my boss was very happy. That taught me a lesson... NEVER again will I leave work during Memorial Day for ANYTHING but to go home! Traffic is HORRENDOUS!!!
