Suggestions for a destination wedding??

Hi, I live in Virginia and here is what I am looking for: I would love to get married in a place that overlooks the water (preferrably outside but not on the beach at all) and have a reception at the same place where you could have ocean views and possibly be both inside and outside. I would have about 80 guests total and want everyone to be able to stay at this same place. There needs to be a bar/restaurant at the hotel for them to also hang out in! (very important!) :) It could also be in NC, but my fiance loves Hilton Head so I thought I would start here. I just don%26#39;t want anything too terribly formal or lots of strangers hanging around outside while we are getting married. :) Sorry if I am asking for too much - ANY ideas are welcome and then I can check them out online! Thank you!

Try getting in touch with the folks @ Wild Dunes on the Isle of Palms. I know they could you hook you up with some ideas.

Suggestions for a destination wedding??

Thank you so much for the tip! I will check it out!

Last May we were staying in Shipyard Plantation on Hilton Head and there was a small wedding at The Beach Club at the Crown Plaza Resort. It was on the deck overlooking the ocean. Also has a nice indoor area looking out at the ocean. Your guest could stay at Crowne Plaza, great pool with bar and restaurant.

This site has some places I was going to suggest: weddinglocation.com/region.phtml/鈥tate

A friend went to a wedding a couple of weeks ago on Daufuskie Island at the Resort and Breath - yes Breath- Spa. She enjoyed it.

Also Pawley%26#39;s Island and Litchfield makes for beautiful photos.

Have you looked at Jekyll Island Club in NC? I remember when we were there I thought wow, what a view for a wedding! It%26#39;s one of the Historic Hotels of America. Here%26#39;s their wedding site: jekyllclub.com/weddings.html

Best wishes.

Oops. Correction. Jekyll Island is in Georgia.

Thank you so much for the feedback! Ironically I have looked into Jekyll with great detail! I really like it, just wonder if it is too far for my guests or too hot in July or August. :) I also checked out Daufuskie as it seems to be the perfect setting but it seems a little pricey for the rooms and it doesn%26#39;t look like there could be a lot of other options for my guests. I am definitely going to check out your other suggestions. thank you SO much for taking the time to respond!

I checked average temps for Virginia Beach, moving south to Jekyll Island.

July Aug.

VB 89 VB 85

JI 82 JI 82

I think that%26#39;s because it%26#39;s not only got ocean breezes but it%26#39;s an island.

Sorry that translated so badly....tripadvisor pushed the numbers closer than I had written them.

Better way:

VB: July 89; Aug. 85

JI: July 82; Aug. 82

explorer3 - thank you so much! That is awesome! And VA is definitely humid anyway...again thank you so much! Jekyll Island Club Hotel seems like it would be a very beautiful venue and would be a great time for our guests!
