Okay, this may be a stupid question but i am really curious, so excuse me in advance. Do people lay blankets on the beach in Myrtle Beach? I%26#39;ve never been before, and it seems in pictures like it is just a whole bunch of beach chairs.
Blankets on the beach?
Yes, bring blankets! And chairs. You can rent those chairs and umbrellas from the life guards but they are $20 per day. Gets pretty expensive. Or you can buy some cheap chairs and umbrellas at the local souviner shops like Wings, Pacific or Eagles. These stores are on every corner in Myrtle Beach. Or get them at WalMart.
I might add that you are not supposed to put any umbrellas in FRONT of the Life Guard chairs so you don%26#39;t block his view of the swimmers. That%26#39;s why every morning the life guards put up those chairs just a little behind their own chairs.
(and that was NOT a stupid question)
Blankets on the beach?
Not a stupid question... I bring a large blanket.. and sometimes the beach umbrella..
but mostly I just sit in my sand chair...
When my son was little we used the blanket and umbrella..
A warning about umbrellas. You can%26#39;t put them anywhere in front of the endless line of rental umbrellas with chairs. This puts you very far back from the water. No fun at all.
This dissapointed me greatly, as I never go to any beach without my majestic 8 foot Sam%26#39;s Club umbrella. In Myrtle, because of the above rule, I decided to leave the umbrella at the hotel and slather on extra sunscreen. Too bad, this greatly reduced the amount of time I could spend enjoying the beach. God help fair-skin redheads.
Chairs, blankets and what-not are allowed to be set down anywhere. Though you%26#39;d probably get busted for a baby tent, too.
And if you do bring an umbrella...please make sure you anchor it securely! It%26#39;s not alot of fun to be sitting in your chair, or laying on your blanket and having that ';majestic'; umbrella heading your way! Ouch! Most of the lifeguards are very accomodating and will help you ';plant'; your umbrella or lend you the tool to do so properly.
You will probably want both a beach chair %26amp; a blanket. The beach chairs are sold in nearly every corner store in MB %26amp; are very inexpensive.
I discovered the very best blanket last year! It is called the ';neet sheet'; or something like that. You can get them near the suntan lotion, etc. in Wal-Mart or CVS. They are blue %26amp; rolled up in plastic. Very lightweight, washable %26amp; best of all sand doesn%26#39;t stick to them.
I guess I should be a spokesperson for the product :) Don%26#39;t mean to be obnoxious.
