A couple of items to report --
There is now a new water taxi service that is running between Patriot%26#39;s Point in Mt. Pleasant and The Maritime center on peninsula Charleston. The cost is $5 one way and $8 round trip.
This will make it so much easier for visitors that are staying in Mt. P, Isle of Palms, or Sullivan%26#39;s Island to get downtown for shopping, dinner, etc.
Also, sometime in 2006, there will be a Ruth%26#39;s Chris Steakhouse opening downtown. I%26#39;ve eaten at the RCS in Weehawken, N.J. and the steak was right good. But it was easily the most expensive steak I have ever eaten; this is a very high-end establishment but will add to the intrigue of new steakhouses in Charleston, such as the new Mo Sussman%26#39;s.

Floski:
Thanks for the info about the water taxi. So you park at Patriot%26#39;s Point and ride? Is there a cost for parking?
Any idea where the Red Roof Inn is in MP? We are staying there for New Years. I am told it is right across the bridge. We have never stayed in MP as we usually stay a few miles south on 17. I am concerned about having to drive that night, and was hoping I could get some input about cost of taxis, other ideas for transportation into the city at night and in the wee morning hours.
Thanks so much.
Some News of Interest
Parking at Patriots Point is free of charge.
To get to the Red Roof Inn, once you cross the Cooper River Bridge, stay on 17-North and turn right at the first traffic light (McGrath-Darby Rd.), it%26#39;ll be an almost immediate left onto the frontage road and the RR Inn is on the right.
Happy New Years!
