Where to stay?

Hi, we are from Tennessee and will be first time travelers to Myrtle Beach the week of July 4th. I would like suggestions of places to stay that are on the beach, close to Broadway at the Beach, yet still not so close that the traffic is terrible. This may not be possible, but I%26#39;m hoping someone will have suggestions. We don%26#39;t want to stay in a dump, but we can%26#39;t afford %26#39;high class%26#39; either. Thanks from TN.

Where to stay?

hey TNgirl,

first of all, check out all these other posts for some great info that will help you out. Just read thru them.

I suggest you stay anywhere from 55Ave. and up in Myrtle Beach. NOT close to the Pavillion area. Forest Dunes is nice, so is Ocean Forest Plaza and Carolina Winds (which is at the very north part of Myrtle Beach. Nice area! Everything is close by in these areas.

A word of warning: The July 4th Week is ALWAYS CROWDED and expensive!! If you can go the week before or after it really makes a difference.

Where to stay?

The Ocean Forest ,Forest Dunes area is real nice as mentioned. As mentioned its the most crowded time of the year but if you have children theres numerous fireworks displays to be seen during this time frame. The traffic in this section on rte 17 really thins out as compared with anywhere near the Pavillion area and North Myrtle Beach.Learn how to use roads such as Grissom Parkway and RTE 31 to help you get places quicker.

We always stay at Forest Dunes when we go to Myrtle Beach, and we haven%26#39;t been burned yet. It is removed enough from the S. Ocean Blvd. section to be relaxing, yet you can still get to all of the major attractions in just a few minutes. It has never been overcrowded when we were there either, just full enough to be enjoyable. However, we have never gone around the 4th of July. You should probably get your reservation taken care of now, because I imagine that things fill up pretty early for that week!

A word of wisdom: If you do choose Forest Dunes and you go for the ocean-view room vs. the ocean-front to save money, request something near the front of the building. The ocean-view rooms near the back don%26#39;t have the greatest view. Better yet, for the minor difference in price, just go for the ocean-front. We did last time and we were really glad that we did!
