Suggestions on where to stay, Palmetto Dunes, Sea Pines?

This is our first time to HH, we are seniors. At this point most of the villas I have looked at are at Palmetto Dunes and Sea Pines. In Palmetto they are at St Andrews and Queens Grant, at Sea Pines they are at the Racquet Club Villa and adjacent to the Sea Pines forest preserve.

Since I can not tell about the conditon of the units except from the photos on VRBO what the pluses and minuses of these communities?

We don%26#39;t golf or play tennis, we will lounge at the pool and beach, do some walking and boat and people watching, go out to eat.

Thanks for your help.

My husband and I have been to HHI the last 3 years...this will be our fourth year. I highly recommend the North Forest Beach area. We stay at the Seacrest Villas. It is across the street from Coligny Plaza, which has a lot of shops, restaurants, a movie theater, and a Piggly Wiggly. It has two pools, a large jacuzzi tub and is also beachfront, so it will be perfect for your beach-lounging and people-watching. Plus it is great for only a couple, since it is one of the few that have 1-bedroom units. We don%26#39;t have kids, so it is perfect for just the two of us. We took a chance the first time we went to HHI, and I wouldn%26#39;t stay anywhere else.

Hi! This will be our 4th trip to HHI. We took a leap of faith our first time there...no advice from anyone we knew, and we hit the jackpot! We stay at the Seacrest Villas in the North Forest Beach area. I highly recommend it. There are plenty of other beachfront villas in that area as well. It is across the street from Coligny Plaza, which has many shops, restaurants, a movie theater, and a Piggly Wiggly, all within walking distance. It is a beachfront complex with 2 pools and a large jacuzzi tub. We like it because we aren%26#39;t into golf or tennis either, and those resorts that are based around those sports seem pricier. This will be a great area for beach-lounging and people-watching (what my husband and I do), as well as being able to walk a short distance to shopping and dining. I hope you give it a look!

Duplicate post, sorry...didn%26#39;t think it would post since I hadn%26#39;t registered yet, so I thought I had to repost!

You should understand that each unit in a VRBO site is owned individually. The condition of the unit can vary even in the same complex.

St Andrews and Queens Grant are outside of the gate at PD. Of the two, Queens Grant is slightly better. Since you mentioned those two and none of the inside the gate villas, I would guess you have some budget restrictions.

In Sea Pines the Racquet club villas are closer to Harbortown, then the forest preserve rental.

You should also look for rentals in Ketch, Clipper, or Cutter courts. These are right by Harbortown and walking distance to shops restaurants and the marina.

From your post you might be better off in Shelter Cove. This is an area adjacent to a marina, which also has shops and restaurants. You are walking distance to the Arts Center with its shows and art gallery. Also you can walk to Shelter Cove community park which has a community event almost every weekend.

Rental Villas are available at Anchorage, Harbourside, or Captains Quarters.

If you are looking for a relaxing time. Queens Grant would be a good choice. Less than 1/2 mile walk to beach. Benefit of the Palmetto Dunes buggy to take you to Shelter Cove Harbour, Shelter Cove Mall %26amp; Plaza, and the beach. Great area to rent bikes to get around since you would be in the center of the Island.
