shelter cove and fishing. where to stay?

was looking at your site and found the map most helpful. My husband and i coming for the first time and the map helped me get a better picture of the island. However i need some advice. We are coming down on a time share tour of the new surfwatch by mariott and will be arriving june 30th and leaving june 3 however we want to go charter fishing for two days prior. We want to stay in ocean front and someone mentioned shelter cove would be the closet marina. I want a suggestion on where to stay so we can simply walk to the marina and get our charter boat. I think we are looking at captian Hooks charter. I am wanting something close to surfwatch so i was looking at the mariotte golf resort for two days before we go to the surfwatch resort. However that doesnt seem walking distance. Any suggestions, anyone?

thanks

shelter cove and fishing. where to stay?

shelter Cove and the marina are on the Broad Creek side of the island. Across the main Road Route 278 is Palmetto Dunes, which is an ocean front resort. the Ocean is about three miles from Shelter Cove.

As I mentioned in a previous post there are two ocean front hotels in the resort. The Marriott and the Hilton.

I believe the Hilton would be better for you, because of the following. Palmetto Dunes runs a shuttle service to Shelter Cove. If you are staying at the Marriott, you cannot take the shuttle!!!

The reason is that the Marriott corporation has not paid their share of the shuttle costs for the past two years. therefore the shuttle will not serve any Marriott guest. Since you stated you don%26#39;t want to rent a vehicle, you will need transportation.

The Hilton is preferable because it is a suite hotel. I think it has a better restaurant than the Marriott. It is behind the gate, while the Marriott is not. Take a look at some of the reviews of both venues on this website, and you will see that most people have had a better experience at the Hilton Resort.
