hotel suitable for teenagers without costing an arm and a...

We are looking for a suitable hotel room for my husband and I and 2 teenage (15 yrs old) boys. We spend most of our time on the beach so we really only need a place to lay our heads at night that is oceanfront, has efficiencies and that won%26#39;t break the bank. We hope to vacation in July 2006....Thanks

So many to choose from and most all have effeciencies of some type. You might narrow down the area of MB that you would like to stay and that will help others to make recommendations.

You%26#39;ll get lots of great advice on this forum.

A few places come to mind that may be a bit less pricey than others. And again, as the above post states, depending on what part of the area you want to be in, will also dictate price, as well as the desire to be direct oceanfront.

The Boardwalk %26amp; The Poindexter are close to the downtown area, but still a bit away not to be in all the hub-bub. Both are decent properties with a few on-site amenities. Tropical Winds %26amp; Coral Beach are a bit more to the south end of Myrtle Beach, and again have things to keep the kids busy. Ocean Forest is more at the north end of Myrtle, probably not quite as many amenities that you would find at say Coral Beach, but a little bit nicer beach, and a bit more spacious accomodations. All are in that $130 to $190 per night price range I would think for that time of year. All do offer efficiencies.

You may want to consider a property across the street from the beach is you want to watch your $$. Not sure it that would be an option, but The Grand Strand Days Inn is a decent property...they have a really nice family suite on the 2nd floor that you can get a glimpse of the ocean from and this suite is huge!

Rates are typically highest in July than they are all year. You can get condo%26#39;s right across from the beach (2nd row) for a much better rate. I know in N. Myrtle, public beach access between all hotels/condo%26#39;s, so won%26#39;t be a problem walking to the beach. We%26#39;ve stayed in many, but enjoy a condo called Reflections (Cherry Grove section of N. Myrtle)...2 bed/2 bath, kitchen, 36'; TV, great inlet views, washer/dryer, built in BBQ, nice pool, 50 yards to beach. We rented it through Elliott Realty.

wassummon, keep in mind that you will probably find a great hotel anywhere in MB and your boys will spend most of the day walking the beach or pool area, meeting other kids. My 17 yr old son does this everyday that we are there. Meets all kinds of kids his age. During the night, you will need to drive to most anywhere else you want to go like the Pavillion area, Broadway at the Beach, Barefoot Landing, etc.

We have stayed at Carolina Winds and Ocean Forest Plaza. Both very nice and in great neighborhoods.

And yes, July is the most expensive month to visit. Also, every hotel room most likely has at least a mini fridge and stove top or microwave. Have fun!
