North or South?

ok one more question...I do believe I usually have stayed in South Myrtle (last place I stayed 6 years ago was The Landmark...I now hear it%26#39;s rundown...which is terrible b/c it used to be nice!)...however now I see a lot of North Myrtle hotels that seem nice...especially Long Bay Resort. What%26#39;s the difference! It%26#39;s been soooo long since I%26#39;ve been to Myrtle Beach! Thanks in advance!

The Landmark is doing a lot of renovations %26amp; you will probably start seeing better reviews but some of their front desk staff does seem to have an ';attitude problem.'; Their pool complex is still the best in town.

The north end is quieter, less commercial %26amp; ..mostly just houses %26amp; condos amongst the hotels on the beach block.

North or South?

First of all dont confuse the northern part of Myrtle Beach with North Myrtle Beach.The northern part of Myrtle Beach starts around 52nd and goes up to around 79th.Some of the hotels in this area are Caravelle,Long Bay,Grande Shores and Forest Dunes. North Myrtle Beach is up around Barefoot Landing.Theres a section behind Walmart and Galleria Shopping that Im not sure if its North Myrtle or Myrtle. I personally would rate them in this order:

1.Northern Secton of Myrtle Beach.=Central location and QUIET ,sits among residential areas.

2.North Myrtle Beach=The area where Shorecrest,Ocean Creek,and Beach Cove are situated is very good.

3.The Lake Arrowhead road section behind Galleria Shopping Center.If you havethe cash Maisson%26#39;s Ser Mur is a very upscale hotel in this area.

4.Pavillion Area=Very congested.Stay somewhere else and drive to the Pavillion.

We travel from Canada to Myrtle Beach each year (for the past 7) and stay at the Landmark every Feb. or Mar. for a week. It%26#39;s not rundown, however it is starting to show it%26#39;s age. I was weary last year after the reviews, however found the resort to be just fine. This year I told myself not to read the reviews, and just go! The interior rooms definitely need improvement, but we stay in the deluxe angle oceanfront suite. Our room has always been clean. They are in the middle of an 8 million dollar reno, but it%26#39;s still the best value for your dollar and the pool complex is the best in town. Good Luck!
