I%26#39;m going to MB in two weeks - have reservations at the Roxanne Towers- but now have read about construction next door and in the area.
Any recommendations for another area/hotel with no construction. Just want something nice.
Thanks,

construction at myrtle beach - hotel recommendation?
That really is a problem in this area right now. Seems like something is being renovated or being built on just about every block of the beach. Our skyline has been dotted with construction cranes it seems like forever! Yikes!
Well, lets see...you have a few options at the north end of Myrtle Beach. Say, Monteray Bay Suites, or the Caravelle... some of the construction is beginning to wrap up say around The Cherry Tree, Ocean Forest and Southwind area...I%26#39;ll double check on some other properties and get back let you know later today...ok?
construction at myrtle beach - hotel recommendation?
MBConcierge:
thank you. I called The Roxanne - and they said that there was no construction immediately next to them (that the Atlantic? - was completed in October).
Does that sound accurate?
Thanks again for any information!

Hey there Dori!
Ok, here%26#39;s the scoop. It is somewhat accurate that they dont have any ';building construction'; going on on either side of them. In fact the area that they are in from 11th Ave N to almost 25th Ave N is ';construction free'; (no cranes!) BUT......behind the hotel, beachfront, there IS construction. They sit almost in front of where they are finishing up (hopefully by April 1st) the 14th Ave N Outfall Project for stormwater runoff. This project will eventually help to keep our beaches open and bacteria free...but I know for a few vacationers, it%26#39;s not making things easy. There are a number of backhoes, dumptrucks and all that type of construction stuff right at the pier, and right behind the Roxanne. Did you still want to stay in that general area?
I%26#39;m not set on a specific area - liked that area just because it was central - and the hotel had good reviews - and it was not a huge resort ( I just want easy access to get to the beach for a walk etc.)
We do want to do a few things at night - and would maybe take a cab so wanted to have it not too far out.

If you want to stay in the general area, you may want to check out The Breakers (ask for the newer tower, I think they call it the south tower) The Camelot, or it used to be called the Days Inn at 21st and Ocean Blvd. All are oceanfront with direct beach access. The local bus service - LYMO - runs the full length of Ocean Blvd and also to Broadway at the Beach and up to Barefoot Landing (check on times at the hotel desk). You may want to look at Monteray Bay Suites or even the Caravelle or Grande Shores. These are more at the north end of Myrtle Beach. Nicer beach area here, still a number of restaurants in the area, and you can use the bus service to get around or taxi if you prefer. Or you may want to rent a car for a day and really explore the area!
Thanks MB!
I%26#39;ll check them out. We will have a car - I just meant that when going out in the evening - we may want to have a few drinks ;-)

You are welcome! And understand that exactly! Wise choice...better than ruining a great vacation and getting a DUI!
Noticed your from IL....I spent most of my life in the ';Land of Lincoln';! Lived in the Bourbonnais area...have alot of memories of Bloomington. My husband used to race bicycles in that area, and a good friend of my son%26#39;s went to college at ISU
