I am wondering if anyone can help me figure out what is going on with airfare to Charleston. I cannot find a flight from New England that is less than $389 for a round trip. I feel like this is a lot of a flight when it is not even peak season. I have searched for dates in March and February. Ideally we would like to fly out of Manchester, NH, so please let me know if anyone knows how to find a better deal. Thanks!
getting thereFlying in/out of Charleston is ridiculously expensive most of the time...occassionally you%26#39;ll get a good deal to NYC but that%26#39;s about it. I won%26#39;t even get started on my thoughts on our airfares!!
If you plan to rent a car, you may want to look at flying in/out of Myrtle Beach, SC (MYR) or Savannah, GA (SAV)...both are only about an hour and half drive from Charleston and generally offer better fares. My folks and I drove from CHS to MYR to fly to Memphis because we saved $200 a ticket!!
Just for kicks, I did a search on Orbitz for 3/4 returning on 3/11 from MHT to CHS and it was $299 on Delta and NWA...don%26#39;t know if those dates work or if it was a fluke I found that rate, but that%26#39;s a good one.
Good luck and we hope to see you soon!
getting thereThanks for checking into flights travelgirl.
In case anyone in interested, though, my sister and I found one on a site called studentuniverse.com. After taxes and everything the round trip is only $225, and the dates are February 10th thru 13th. The only drawback is that there is a two hour connection through Chicago, so I leave really early but won%26#39;t get into Charleston until almost 2PM.
I am going to check for more today, but let me know if you all come up with anything else.
USirways is usually the hceapest way to get to Charleston, but I have found that Delta has competitive pricing, too, especially if you are flying along the east coast. But, still think about Mrytle Beach or Savannah if the price is right.
travelgirl nailed this one! Darn shame we don%26#39;t have Airtran or Southwest flying out of here. Why is airfare so high to Charleston? Because it can be. The big carriers are the only thing going and strangely enough they are all +/- $20 of each other, hmmmmmm...
