Barefoot Resort waterway

We are thinking about a condo at BarefootResort North Tower.

This may sound stupid but last year we drove behind Barefoot Landing and there was a bad smell coming off the water. Has anyone been down there recently and is everything okay now.

Hi Jen.. dont know about the water.. thing.

but that resort looks pretty nice..

It would certainly be reasonable to ask them where they get their water from...I guess runoff. If it%26#39;s not treated properly it can get smelly algae. I remember in Florida some canals would smell and canal water was used to water plants in places so the area would smell when the sprinklers came on.

There should not be a problem at most times with the water smelling; Barefoot could not afford that. You normally would not have to worry about the Intercoastal Waterway anyway; it%26#39;s flowing water and rises with the tides somewhat. The water around the shops is a lake and could become stagnet and I know the have fountains to aerate the water and I%26#39;m sure they monitor it also. I%26#39;d suggest at few windmill%26#39;s with pump aerators that put millions of tiny air bubbles on the bottom of the lake to rise and keep it aerated. It would look good and keep the water aerated. I%26#39;m sure they have people looking after it; if they only had been wise enough to put in a bridge over the waterway that didn%26#39;t have to be opened for tall sailboats. The North Tower is nice too; as are the golf courses!

You may want to check out a new resort opening July 1 on the waterway....right across from Grande Dunes Golf Course. Its called The Marina Inn at Grande Dunes. They will have approx 66 hotel rooms and a number of ';villas'; which will be fully appointed condos...really nice! I think the website is www.marinainnatgrandedunes.com

I know they had been dredging the area behind Barefoot Resort for the new marina there, so that may have been the source of the smell (?) Looks that is mostly complete..so I wouldnt think you would have any problems.

Thank You everyone for your information.

I just wanted to make sure it wasn%26#39;t some sort of a waterway problem. I do think we are going to go with a condo in the North Tower they look so nice and are very resonably priced since you are off the bech.

thanks

jen
