My son is a very good golfer for his age (21) but on a tight budget. Looking for decent courses at the low end of the price spectrum. Also, any beachfront hotels that will allow 21 year olds?
good cheap golf courses?Diamond Back=real good course that gives low rates because their the last one you come to on RTE 9.About 30 miles from central Myrtle Beach locations.
Possum Trot=Last I played there in Dec. the conditions were great.
The Classic Group courses offer good deals on their courses.Indian Wells and Black Bear are good in this group
Cypress Bay= If they have their greens back in shape the layout is surprisingly good.Last summer they were horrible.
Check for coupons in the SunNews and Monster Book and call for 48 hr. and twilight rates.
Try Cherry Tree Inn for lodging.
good cheap golf courses?A few courses come to mind. Myrtlewood (2 courses there, Pine Hills and Palmetto) Wild Wing (3 courses, Falcon, Hummingbird %26amp; Woodstork) %26amp; Pine Lakes (the Grandaddy)just to name a few. These course are close to the MB beachfront and, depending on the time of year, can be played for not much more than cart fees (especially with the 24 hour rates). Of course certain times of year, i.e spring and fall, are our golf seasons and the courses can be extremely busy. But if your son is flexible with his tee times and what courses he is interested in playing at, you can usually find a pretty good deal.
As for OF hotels, you may want to check Coral Beach or Comfort Inn. Some others may also rent at that age, but may charge a deposit. Seems that if a property has inside hallways, they dont charge a deposit and will rent to the younger set. Guess they can kind of see what is coming and going in the hotel :)
All courses mentioned are nice and probably a notch above Colony Charters. This one is well kept, but not that challenging. Rates are lower than the others mentioned so far. Located in North Myrtle on HWY 9. I would classify as %26#39;decent%26#39;.
Beechwood and Azalea Sands are decent old courses with great rates, especially in the afternoon.
My top economy level courses that are still good golf are:
Myrtlewood
Farmstead
Meadowlands
Lion%26#39;s Paw
International Club
Indian Wells
Check those out and you can%26#39;t go wrong.
