Is the SeaMist as good as it looks?

We are planning our first family vacation at Myrtle Beach. We wanted a place in walking

distance of Family Kingdom(1/2 mile) and the Pavilion(1 1/2 mile). When we come to the beach

we do a lot of grand strand walking and we wanted to be close enough to leave the car behind.

We have 3 children and after many hours of looking up web-sites and reading all the brochures I

received in the mail the SeaMist looked like the way to go. It was close by and had free daily

passes to Family Kingdom Waterpark and Nightly passes to Family Kingdom Amusement

Park(this will be great for the kids and save us a bundle). We will be staying in one of the

conference buildings across the street at either the Jewel Building or the Sands building. I just

wanted to know if this place is as good as it looks in the brochures? Is it clean? Are the free

tickets for real? We figured up that if my family went to those places for the 9 days we will be

staying that it would cost almost 1200.00. How can they afford to give this away as part of your

stay for free? Are the pools clean? This looks like a great place for a family with lots of on site

things for the children. I also know how looks can be deceiving. It could all be just good

advertisement. Please let me know if there is anything major wrong with this place before I send

my deposit on Tuesday.

Look at forum question is ';where is a good place to stay with small children.';

Is the SeaMist as good as it looks?

Both of the buildings at Sea Mist you are refering to are VERY old. For example, the Jewel was the original building built in 1953. Also, neither one are oceanfront. They tend to have a lot of problems with mildew at any Sea Mist building. Yes, the amusements tickets are for real and the pools are fairly clean but I personally would not stay there. All around, very old property and it shows in the rooms. I%26#39;m sorry, just being honest.

The simple answer is NO.Not one of the better resorts. There are many better kid friendly resorts.

We stayed there years ago. While the huge gameroom was nice and the waterpark was fun, I would definitely not say it was one of the nicest places we%26#39;ve ever stayed. Since then, they have bought several of the surrounding buildings and made them part of the Sea Mist. The last time we looked at a room there, we had looked in several buildings and I did not see a room I%26#39;d enjoy staying in. It is also very crowded because it is so big. I would not recommend it because there are so many other really nice places to stay.

Hey, thanks for the input on the seamist. My husband and kids really want to stay there for the free passes to the family kingdom parks. If we paid for the passes the 9 days we%26#39;ll be there it would cost us 1200.00 more dollars. I really can%26#39;t afford a better palce and 1200.00 for the passes. I JUST WANT TO KNOW THAT IT IS AT LEAST CLEAN . I don%26#39;t care how old because we stay gone until bed time anyway. We will be spending very little time in the room except to sleep and bathe. As long as it%26#39;s clean, I%26#39;ll be able to stand it . Thanks

As stated before I would not consider it clean and they have many poblems with mildew.

I was going to stay at the sea mist as well this july, but after reading reviews and posts I changed my mind. Sounds like hotel is dirty. The internet is a wonderful thing!

Be sure to check out the reviews on Trip Advisor.

Quite a few on the site to get a good overview.

After reading every last one, we decided to opt for Sands Ocean Dunes which has a Kids Club.

We%26#39;ll be staying there in ZAugust.

My family stayed a the Sea Mist about two years ago. It was a great place to stay. All of our tickets were included. We had to take a group picture so when we went to the attractions they could identify us. I%26#39;m currently trying to book another vaction for us to go back to Sea Mist. They have a underground tunnel to the beach. This was wonderful - we didn%26#39;t have to cross the busy street. They have an indoor bowling alley, arcade, putt-putt golf, onsite water park and amusement park down the street. All this was free if you purchase the family fun pack. The place is really - really big! Good luck. Rozemorgan@yahoo.com
