Question for MB Concierge

You are probaly getting tired of answering all my questions but I found a hotel that sounds pretty decent in my price range, its the Grande Shores Ocean Resort for $112 for an oceanfront room. What is your opionion on this hotel and what is it close too?

Thanks for all your help.

I really enjoy talking about the beach! That%26#39;s why I live here --- and am a concierge by trade :) so fire away with the questions...and on this site you%26#39;ll get all kinds of answers! That%26#39;s why its a great forum.

I really like that area of the beach..I know some others will disagree, but I think its cleaner, less crowded, alot wider (especially compared to those beaches in the Cherry Grove and NMB area) and the hotels arent as dated as in the south end. Granted, give maybe a year or two and the south end with all the construction going on that way will be almost brand new! Grande Shores sets at the north end of what we call ';the avenues'; There are probably 10 or less hotels/resorts in this area. All fairly new or recently updated. There are a number of restaurants less than 2 miles (alot less than 1 miles) grocery, some nitelife, a number of pool bars with music (check out St Clements near the Caravelle for some local characters :) .....)

Its maybe 4 to 5 miles to the ';boulevard'; area (downtown) and probably 7 to 10 miles to either Broadway at the Beach or Barefoot Landing. All of those areas can be reached by out local bus service -- LYMO -- for just about pocket change (alot cheaper than a taxi!)

You may want to check out either

www.myrtlebeachmaps.com or

ww.strandmagazine.com

to see where the hotel is in relation to what you want to see. If I was coming to the beach...I%26#39;d stay there!

Hope this helps! Have a great time here! :)

Question for MB Concierge

Hey denverdave...

I have a great bus route map at info@golymo.com Gives you a good idea where everything is at and the bus schedules. I know I found it helpful so thought I%26#39;d pass it along! Have a great vacation!

I agree DClady, these maps are great! We%26#39;ve had Lymo here for maybe about 4 years now, and I am always amazed how empty the buses are! I know that there has been ';on-time'; issues, but looks like they plan on putting a few more buses on the heavier use routes, so that should have a bus coming by on those routes every 30 minutes. And for a $2 fare on most routes ($1 on otheres!), its alot cheaper than a taxi!

One nice thing about the Route 15 map (Ocean Blvd) is it list a number of the hotels, so you can see exactly where that property is in proximity to other attractions. So, check out www.golymo.com and click on maps/schedules
