Slightly disabled, any ideas?

Im in the process of recovering from a Stem Cell Transplant last May. I%26#39;m still not real swift on my feet but, I want to give the kids (12,15,17) a nice Spring Break after a long difficult year. I can walk short distances and can also bring a wheel chair along if necessary. Can anyone suggest a good location that might cater to a slightly disabled person (i.e., short paths to the beach, easy access to the resort)? It really doesnt even need to be in Myrtle Beach. Due to my condition, I have extra baggage I need to bring along so were trying to avoid using Airlines. MB seemed like the closest beautiful climate/beach from Michigan that I could think of.

Lucky, Call Janet at 1-800-367-6515 or email her at janet@northmyrtlebeach.com. She owns the best vacation rental agency in North Myrtle in my opinion. I%26#39;m sure there are other good ones too but I%26#39;ve talked to 6-7 and rate her%26#39;s the best. She helps rent my condo; her company does. Sounds like you need 1st floor or something near an elevator; she would be a good one to talk to about options.

After what I%26#39;ve read about hotel elevators, I%26#39;d be looking to rent a first floor condo with a deck-ramp to the beach. You could use one of those plastic wheelchairs with the big knobby tires on the beach (I%26#39;m sure you could rent one).

With the ages of your kids I would think you would want to be oceanfront and near some activities that they could enjoy :) Most of the OF hotels that I%26#39;ve worked with are very accomodating with those that have disabilities. And to get around on the beach a traditional wheelchair is really hard to manuever..check with any of the lifeguards and they can secure one of the beach wheelchairs for you. Its a ';wheelchair'; that has large balloon type wheels, that you can roll right up to the waters edge! You may want to check out say the Camelot, The Breakers, (these are close to the Pavilion Amusement Park, but not too close) or Long Bay or Monteray Bay (more in the north end of Myrtle Beach, with bus transportation to some of the entertainment areas).
