hilton head has a full time population of around 25,000 people, so most of the shops are open year round. a few of the touristy restraunts close from december to early march, but all in all, you should have plenty of shops and restaurants to choose from.

As a full time resident, I can vouch for Talewis %26#39;s post. However we are closer to 35,000 on the island with another 40,000 in nearby Bluffton and Oakatie.

A lot of our plantations are resident only, Wexford, Long Cove, Leamington, Hilton Head Plantation, Indigo Run, Palmetto Hall and Windmill Harbor are where most of the year round residents live.

Our shopping areas are open year round. Very few of the restaurants close for more than two weeks these days. Some of them in fact serve lunch in this season, but not in the summer.

C%26#39;mon Down, the weather is fine, but don%26#39;t go into the ocean until April unless you are a polar bear.
