Need help too for Myrtle Beach

We also like to golf and would like a ocean front room. We like a resort/hotel that has a pool, beach front, and a fun bar. Does anyone have any suggestions?

That only narrows it doen to a hundred or so properties...do you have a price-range or an area you prefer (MB covers a lot of beachfront). What time of year will you be going?

Need help too for Myrtle Beach

We would like to come after bike week in May, before Memorial day weekend or the first full week of June. We would like to keep the price around $85-$125 per night. I found two resorts online that had a nice golf package, one was Long Bay Resort and the other was Ocean Drive Beach Resort, North. Do you know anything about either of these properties?

Long Bay Resort is at the north end of Myrtle Beach (this is where it get confusing!) Ocean Drive Resort is in North Myrtle Beach...not that there isnt alot to do in North Myrtle...but most people who are looking for some nitelife tend to migrate towards Broadway at the Beach (retail and entertainment complex) which is in Myrtle Beach...the beach where Long Bay is located is one of my favorite beaches...wide, not real crowded..and a number of places to have a cocktail while watching the waves (check out St Clements)! And for golf...sometimes waiting til you get to the beach and checking on the 24 or 48 hour rates can be a better deal, as long as your heart isnt longing to play a particular course! Have a great time! i%26#39;m a transplanted Illinois gal myself!

Thank you so much!! Sounds like Long Bay is where we would like to stay. We aren%26#39;t big partiers (were in our younger days!) but, we do like to relax and have some fun! Would you know if LB has a lounge or pool bar on their property? On their website it mentions their restaruant, but that is it. So you would suggest not to do the ';golf package'; and just reserve the room then call for golf tee times when we get there? We aren%26#39;t particular of where we play, we just want to play. I%26#39;m all for saving some $$! If you don%26#39;t mind me asking, where are you from in IL? We are from Bloomington. Thanks again for your expertise!

Not real sure about the pool bar...I want to say they do have, i do know that the hotel next door does have (Sand Dunes) does have a pool bar, and St Clements (great local pool bar) is just maybe 3 doors down. You have a River City Cafe which is a great burger/sandwich joint within walking distance. As far as the golf --- I think the golf packages are great if you have a certain course you want to play in mind...but if you are flexible...the 24/48 hour rates are the best. For example last May/June Grande Dunes was $87 (with cart), Myrtle Wood was $37 this was for 2005, not sure what the 2006 rates will be. You can either book yourself, or stop by the concierge desk at the hotel and they will be glad to book for you!

I%26#39;ve lived here for over 10 years..moved from the Bradley-Bourbonnais area. Love it here! Do miss the family at times, but they love the beach too! ha!

Do you suggest booking our tee times online when we set our dates for sure or go through the hotel Concierge when we get there?

Thanks again for your help! I%26#39;ve been to Bourbonis once, it was a long time ago!

That%26#39;s an iffy one. If you were coming down during spring or fall golf season..and you wanted to play at a certain time of day..then you may want to book online. Usually you can find availability at some course with the 24/48 hour rate. Not sure what some of the courses online rate are. You may want to call the concierge desk at the hotel directly and just inquire about the 24/48 hour rates.

Ah, yes...the great metropolis of Bourbonnais! ha! Not alot to draw people back to...once you%26#39;ve visited, why go back! ha! Had a good friend of my sons grad from ISU...so we%26#39;ve had some good times in Bloomigton...and my husband used to race bicycles and did a few races in that area.

Here%26#39;s my 2 cents worth on tee-times....

try either one of these 2 websites: mbgolf.com and teetimesonly.com. I own a condo in MB and book online through these 2 sites always whenever I%26#39;m at the condo. Compare each one of the sites for each course....you%26#39;ll find significant differences on some courses and the rates are consistently lower than what you%26#39;d pay at the course. I played a couple courses last week for less than $30 with carts. You%26#39;ll also find some fairly attractive tee-time only/multi-play packages on mbgolf.com. Prior to buying a condo down there, I used to book all of my all-inclusive packages from them...great bunch of people to work with too! (and no....i%26#39;m in no way afilliated with them!)

Hit em long....hit em straight!

Beware...that time is considered ';senior week';. Many of the nicer resorts don%26#39;t accomodate seniors without a parent/guardian but you should know before you go that it is a possibility. The closer you stay to the center of town (Pavillion area) the more likely you are to be affected.

That being said...there are so many great places with O/F, pool, bars, etc. that you would be better off to narrow down the area %26amp; then choose a resort.

Just re-read your post. Looks like you are talking about visiting before senior week.

So, disregard everything I pontificated on about early June :)

BTW, I agree the beach near Long Bay Resort is a great stretch.
