We are going to waters edge resort the first week of october, would appreciate any photos or condo # that is recommended. We have never been to this area before. Would like to know of good restaurants, parks, things to see and do, any info appreciated, my husband would like to go fishing there and we found this place as being close to Murrell%26#39;s inlet.

Murrell%26#39;s Inlet also has some of the best restaurants in that area. I%26#39;m sorry I do not know much about Waters Edge Resort but I stay in Garden City a few times every year. The Garden City Pier is nice, cafe and bar should still be open in Ocotober also there is a lot of fishing done on that pier.

Don%26#39;t know if you have already made your reservations or not but I would recommend going to www.vrbo.com. VRBO - Vacation Rentals by Owners - has condo rentals in this area and there are quite a few to choose from. I was discouraged by the lack of affordable condo%26#39;s that were oceanfront and would accomodate 6 people. I found one here that was oceanfront at a very reasonable rate and there were pictures of the actual condo that we are renting. (Some agents have a ';representative'; picture that may or may not look anything like what you end up with). I%26#39;m going next Thursday so I%26#39;ll report back on how it goes. The unit is at the Surfmaster in Garden City.
I literally arrived home from a trip to Garden City this morning. I%26#39;ve been going almost yearly sinced I moved away from South Carolina a couple decades ago. I highly recommend renting a beach house as opposed to staying in a hotel and/or renting a condo. We have used Garden City Realty consistently for several years and have never been disappointed. Their website (www.gardencityrealty.com) provides video tours of several of their houses and photos of all of them. Prices drop at the end of summer and again the first couple weeks in Sept - so, a week or two in a beach house is really quite affordable.
I second the feedback on the restaurants in Murrel%26#39;s Inlet. We ate at the Dead Dog Saloon (grab a seat at the window, or better yet outside for a great view) which is a family restaurant although it doesn%26#39;t sound it. The food and service was excellent. We also hit Smokey Bones (off the 17 Bypass in Myrtle Beach) - which was also super. Head up to Barefoot Landing or Broadway at the Beach --- both are terrific... tons of unique stores, restaurants, and some activities.
For fishing... stop by and/or call Captain Dicks Marina right in Murrel%26#39;s Inlet. They%26#39;ve been around since I was a kid (30+ years ago). I understand they may have scaled down a bit - but they are certainly the most knowledgeable about fishing in the area and have a variety of options if you%26#39;d like to charter a boat, go on a group fishing trip or what have you.
Hope that helps! Have fun!!!!!!
Last summer, we stayed in unit 204 of Water%26#39;s Edge. It was beautiful. The pool areas are very nice, with an expansive sunning deck that is elevated and looks out over the ocean. They also have a poolside tiki bar and 2 bars/diners on the 1st floor. Atleast one of them should still be open in October. Dunes Realty rents about 10 units at Water%26#39;s Edge. If you go to www.dunes.com, you can see all the units, prices, availability, and most importantly - what the inside of the units look like. You will not be disappointed with unit 204.
We are going to Garden City in August 2006. We have been to the Myrtle Beach Resort twice. We loved the resort and live entertainment at night. We stayed in the tower and the entertainment was right below us. But we thought we%26#39;d try some place different this year. We are looking at a renting a couple units from Dunes Realty at Water%26#39;s Edge. Rooms 806 and 807. Any info/comments on those rooms? Do you know if they have live entertainment there? Is the beach crowded?
Hello. I checked out your rooms on the Dunes Realty site. The decor is a tad outdated, but overall the units seem very nice. The most important thing is cleanliness, and we found that Dunes Realty did a great job at keeping the rooms clean %26amp; tidy. Do know that you won%26#39;t have service during your stay (which we always pass on anyway), but that the rooms will be very nice for your arrival.
We went at the end of August, right as everything was settling down. The hurricane had just come through, so the tiki bar was closed, but they did have 2 official %26#39;bars%26#39; (one was the tiki by the pool and the other was a more mod bar with dim lighting, very small, and on the same floor as the pool) and also a grill that served up burgers, hotdogs, breakfast, sandwiches, and bottled beer/drinks.
Our favorite part was the sundeck. It was pretty expansive as compared to other complexes and also elevated so you got a great view of the water above all the people on the beach.
No entertainment at the complex while we were there, but it is only a half mile from the pier, which we walked a few times. It is also only a minute drive, and parking is pretty easy. The pier has two bars, one on the land side that had karaoke and one on the ocean side that had live bands. Both served well into the night. The pier also had an arcade, which was fun just for something different. Adjacent to the pier is an icecream shop, Wings-type stores, several more bars/restaurants (small-scale, rustic, oyster bars), and a diner that served hotdogs til the wee morning hours.
Sufrside Pier is only a few minutes away by car, and has a 3-story building next to it with a great restaurant and bar, both with fabulous views.
I would recommend Garden City to anyone visiting the Myrtle area. Hope you have a great time!
We were in Myrtle Beach in August of 2004 also and were evacuated because of the hurricane. It was a nightmare driving out of there. We were in traffic for hours. Hopefully the weather will cooperate this year!
Thanks for the info on Water%26#39;s Edge.
Are the balconies a nice size?
When we were at the Myrtle Beach Resort we could barely fit four people on the balcony.
If we don%26#39;t go to Water%26#39;s Edge we are thinking of booking either The Palace or Landmark Resort, through Smith rental.com.
We have two boys, 5 and 9, so we want a family oriented resort, but also with some activity and nightlife for us! I%26#39;m leaning toward Water%26#39;s Edge. . . . maybe . . . I can%26#39;t decide!!
