Vacation for Family in HH......march/april/may??

Hi. We are from OHIO and looking to come down in the near future. WE want to rent a condo and looking for some deals. Any idea%26#39;s or recommendations?

Thanks in advance. Ps...we are not drinkers, just looking for good, clean, family fun. Is this a place where we will have things to do and still enjoy?? Thanks. Tracy

We are also not drinkers and have had a great time both times that we visited HHI. It is a much more sophisticated and understated place than places like Myrtle Beach and Daytona Beach, and you don%26#39;t have the cheap party atmosphere that can pervade those places if you go at the wrong time. HHI has a much more natural feel to it and there is no ';strip'; filled with beach shops, mini golf, amusement parks, etc. like at Myrtle Beach. There are fishing excursions and bicycle and kayak rentals along with sightseeing cruises (there is a nice cruise out of Shelter Cove Harbor that I highly recommend). Overall, HHI is very family-oriented, although a little heavy on the golf if you aren%26#39;t golfers (we aren%26#39;t). You can also take a day trip to Charleston or Savannah, both of which I also highly recommend if you haven%26#39;t been there. You can have a lot of good, clean family fun during a trip to HHI.

I can%26#39;t recommend a condo because we stayed at the Crowne Plaza hotel in Shipyard Plantation, but it was very, very nice and we got a great rate on Hotwire.com.

Check www.cyberrentals.com or www.vrbo.com for owner rentals. If you want something near the beach look at Palmetto Dunes, or Forest Beach condos, though some on Forest beach are older and smaller. Good names on Forest Beach are the SeaCrest, shorewood, or Ocean One. Palmetto Dunes oceanfront complexes are in a gated community and have a less crowded beach area.

Best values in PD are Captains Walk and Villamare.

For Golf oriented places you can find some in Sea Pines, Palmetto Dunes, or Shipyard. Sea Pines is quite large and has many places you can go to by bike.

Hi. Thanks so much for the responses. Will it be nice and warm down there in March, April and May??/ We havent yet decided what month exactally, but we are interested in the least crowded areas, but nice. Can you tell me averages of these months??/ I know that the weather has been crazy this year, but it would be nice to know what we are getting into. thanks again. Tracy

We%26#39;ve never been there in April or May but we went in late March a few years ago and it was pretty nice. The warmest it got was in the low 70%26#39;s during the afternoon on a couple of days. It was a little chilly first thing in the morning, but otherwise it was very nice.

Many of the condo units I mentioned in the previous posts heat their pools in March and April. May is a perfect time, as the weather gets quite warm and the island is not too crowded. March and early April, have normally nice weather, but the ocean can still be cold.
